🐉Chinese New Year Celebrations🐉
To celebrate Chinese New Year (beginning on 1st February 2022), residents within the Nursing Home decided to do an educational project. We started by finding out some fun facts including:
- 2022 is the Year of the Tiger
- Chinese New Year Celebrations last 15 days
- “Guo Nian Hao” means Happy New Year in Chinese
- Children receive red envelopes full of money
- They celebrate with fireworks, lanterns and dancing dragons.
Residents joined in – word searches, cut and paste activities, arts and crafts, a tiger maze (all of this brillant work was displayed on our notice board) and to finish off we made a fantastic Chinese dragon out of: cardboard, paints, string, paper cups and a lot of tissue paper. As you can see from our photographs below everyone did a great job.
Look out for our next post where we will be learning about Chinese Cuisine, we will enjoy a tasty Chinese Buffet complete with Fortune Cookies to continue our Chinese themed Educational Project.
