Sensory Bottles
Our residents have enjoyed spending some time making their own sensory bottles.
We used different materials such as water balls, beads, sequences, loom bands and glitter. These were put into the bottle and then we added water to create the movement effect.
After making these, we used our light box to create a relaxing atmosphere with the bottles.
These will be used by all residents in our Multi-sensory room.
Sensory bottles have many benefits for our residents, including the following:
- Improves fine and gross motor skills as they manipulate the bottle with their hands meaning they use the muscles in their hands and arm.
- Improves concentration and attention span as they focus on the objects in the bottle.
- Promotes relaxation which improves their overall wellbeing and mental health.
Have a look at the photos below which demonstrate how these were made and how much fun and enjoyment we had with these sensory bottles.
