Feel good activities to start the year of 2022 in The Beeches Nursing home!
Throughout the month of January, we focused on a lot of feel good activities to ensure we all felt good and ready to start the new year on the right track.
We started with a game of Bingo which was enjoyed by all those involved. This was played with our musical/ light up machine which is a great sensory stimulus for our residents and it makes the game a lot more interesting.
Next, we got active with our chair based basketball. This is a great way to keep fit and healthy, it promotes great hand/ eye co-ordination and it is a great way of improving our motor co-ordination.
In terms of music, we had a karaoke session which was so much fun and great entertainment for everyone – David and Bernadette sang their hearts out.
We had great fun creating our own “Beeches Band” – Sam, one of our day-care facilitators, played the guitar while we had Gordon on the keyboard, Desmond on the tambourine and David used the shaker. Together, we played and sang some lovely music.
As well as these activities, we have had fun with arts and crafts, relaxation, pamper session, multi-sensory work, listening to our favourite audiobooks and storytelling to name a few.
We can all safely say, January has been a great month for us all!!
