Planting Sunflowers
To add more colour to our beautiful gardens within the Beeches Nursing Home residents decided to plant some lovely sunflowers. We were delighted to get a variety of sunflower seeds donated from the Resource Centre and wish to thank staff there for sorting these out for us.
Residents got the chance to see what each of the varieties of sunflowers would look like when grown so could choose their favourite seeds to plant, the residents were able to choose from the following types of sunflower:
- Irish Eyes sunflower
- Beauty Paquito Sunflower
- Teddy Bear Sunflowers
Residents then got stuck in filling their pots with compost, after this was done 1 seed was carefully planted into each pot and a label put on letting us know who planted it and what type of sunflower it will be when grown. Everyone really enjoyed getting their hands dirty for this activity and can not wait until they start growing.
Have a look back in a few weeks and we should have an update on our sunflowers for you all.
